Teresa Zanelotti-Whitten is a daughter, sister, mother, wife and Nonna (Grandmother in Italian). Teresa started her career in cosmetology at age 19. After working in several salons, she decided to venture out on her own. With financial assistance from her parents, Joseph and Doris Zanelotti, Teresa and her sister Joanie opened the first Julians Hair Designers in Camp Springs, MD (PG County). The year was 1981. At age 23 she had a lot of responsibility for being a salon owner and single mom. Over the years Teresa has employed many outstanding Hairdressers, Receptionists, Shampoo Technicians, and Stylist. She has felt the ups and downs of being a business owner. But through her travels she would never trade her profession for anything else. As Teresa says “What job can you do being creative and receive instant gratification on a daily basis.” Teresa says “This is an amazing feeling”. I love to work in all phases of hairdressing, but her specialty is hair coloring.
Over the years Teresa and her staff have continually given back to the community. Teresa was appointed by Governor Schaffer and served on the “State Board of Cosmetology” for 9 years. The salon has raised money for many different causes, one being Breast Cancer Awareness.

Over the past 48 years Teresa has participated in continuing education in her career. She carries a Senior Cosmetologist License which you receive after 2 years of regular license and testing by the State Board of Cosmetology. She has spent uncounted hours on continual education in her field.

After more than 33 years in the beauty industry — and more than 30 of those years at Julians — I still love that there is always something new to learn.

Behind the chair, I’m known for dimensional color, highlighting, grey blending, and creating hair that feels beautiful, wearable, and uniquely you. But over the years, my curiosity about what was happening beneath the hair led me much deeper.

I am now a Certified Trichologist and Board Certified Functional Wellness Practitioner, with additional education in functional genomics and epigenetics, HTMA/mineral wellness, nutrition, fitness, and menopause support. My continued study focuses on the connection between hair and scalp changes, hormones, nutrition, lifestyle, and overall wellness.

That passion also led me to create Elemental Strands, where I’m developing education and tools designed to help both clients and beauty professionals better understand hair loss, scalp health, and the many factors that can influence the hair we see behind the chair.

Even with everything I’ve added to my career, the heart of what I do hasn’t changed. I love making people feel good, helping them understand their hair, and continuing to learn so I can serve them better.

Outside of the salon, I’m a proud mom of two amazing young men. And after all these years, I still feel incredibly lucky to spend my days doing what I love alongside a wonderful group of women. 💕

I’ve been part of the Julian’s Hair Designers family for 25 years—and yes, it all started at the shampoo bowl! 🫧💗 I began as a shampoo girl, graduated hair school in 2004, and I’ve been behind the chair ever since.

Over the years, I’ve done a little bit of everything, but blonde is definitely my specialty. ✨ Highlights, bright blondes, lived-in blondes, dimensional color—I love creating a blonde that fits you and keeps your hair looking healthy and beautiful.

After 20+ years behind the chair, my favorite part is still the people. My chair is equal parts hair appointment, catch-up session, therapy chair, and lots of laughs. 😂 I’m outgoing, a little sassy, always on the go, and there’s a pretty good chance we’ll become friends somewhere between the foils and the blow-dry.

I’ve been lucky enough to have clients who have been with me for years—some since the very beginning—and I truly love getting to grow through life with them. 💕

Ashley, the daughter of Joanie and niece of Teresa, has worked at Julians since 2000. Ashley started as a shampoo tech and receptionist until she decided to go to the highly acclaimed Graham Webb Academy where she graduated in 2005. Ashley’s continuing education classes and innate style help her keep up on the latest trends. She specializes in color, cut, and waxing. She looks forward to meeting new people and making them feel great about themselves.

Natalie was born and raised in Northern Calvert County and is proud to call the area home. She is married to her husband, Jason, and is the mom of two girls.

With over 21 years of experience in the beauty industry, Natalie has a true passion for helping her clients look and feel their best. She offers a variety of services, including hair color, cutting, updos, styling, and nail services.

Throughout her career, Natalie has continued her education to stay current with new techniques, trends, and products while also building on the skills and experience she has gained over the years.

Natalie loves the relationships she has built with her clients and enjoys creating a welcoming, comfortable experience for everyone who sits in her chair.

With a passion for beauty and a love for making people feel their best, LaToya brings creativity, experience, and a personalized approach to every appointment. After graduating from Graham Webb Academy in Virginia, she has continued her education throughout her career to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques.

Color is her specialty and her passion. From dimensional color and beautiful blondes to highlights, lowlights, and complete transformations, LaToya loves creating customized looks that complement each client’s individual style, features, and lifestyle.

She enjoys working with all hair types and textures and believes that beautiful hair starts with understanding each client’s unique needs. Her goal is to create beautiful, healthy-looking hair while making every client feel comfortable, confident, and cared for.

For LaToya, being a hairstylist is about more than doing hair—it’s about connecting with people, building relationships, and helping each client feel confident and beautiful.

Outside of the salon, LaToya is a proud mom of two. She loves spending time with her children and cherishes the relationships she builds with her clients.

Stephanie has been a licensed cosmetologist since 2010 and a proud member of the Julian’s family since 2013. She specializes in custom color, precision cutting, keratin smoothing treatments, color corrections, and hair dematting.

Stephanie is passionate about continuing her education and staying up to date on the latest techniques and trends in the beauty industry. She loves creating a welcoming, comfortable experience for every client while helping them achieve hair they feel confident in.

She truly enjoys meeting new people, building lasting relationships with her clients, and can’t wait to welcome you to her chair!

Rebekah started her career in cosmetology at Julians Hair Designers in 2016. Rebekah listens to her clients concerns and will achieve what they search for in a color/style. As a mom of 2 she enjoys creating an experience for the whole family, with men, women’s and children’s haircuts. Rebekah specializes in dimensional color, but loves all blondes and adding dimension to brunettes as well. Rebekah is very passionate about this career and hopes to make all of her clients happy and feel very confident with their hair when they walk out of the front door.
